Austin Packers boys tennis team falls to Winona in home opener 4-3 Tuesday

The Austin Packers boys tennis team played host to Big 9 Conference foe Winona for their 2024 home opener at the Wescott Athletic Complex Tuesday, and it was the Winhawks sweeping all three doubles matches on their way to a 4-3 win.

Earning wins for the Packers Tuesday were Cole Hebrink at No. 1 singles, as he swept Gavin Clemons of the Winhawks in straight sets 6-4, 6-1, Nathan Danielson swept Reed Jacobsen of Winona in straight sets at No. 2 singles 6-3, 6-1, and Lucas Rust was victorious for Austin at No. 4 singles as he downed Lydia Flesch of the Winhawks in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2.

The Packers return to action in Rochester Saturday for a Big 9 Conference triangular with the Mayo Spartans and the John Marshall Rockets, with the action scheduled to get underway at Mayo High School at 9:00 a.m. that morning.
