Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team downs Triton 12-2 in 5 innings Tuesday

After going 2-1 at an invitational at Caswell Park in North Mankato Saturday, the Blooming Prairie Awesome Blossoms softball team was looking to get back on the winning side of the ledger in Blooming Prairie Tuesday versus Gopher Conference rival Triton, and six players tallied two hits apiece as the Blossoms blew past the Cobras 12-2 in five innings.

After Triton took a 2-0 lead with two runs in the top of the first, the Blossoms took the lead for good in the bottom half of the inning when they answered with five runs of their own to take a 5-2 lead.  BP then broke the game open with four more runs the third for a 9-2 lead, and they added two more runs in the fourth and one in the fifth to invoke the 10-run rule.

Rightfielder Anna Haberman was one of six Blossoms with a pair of hits Tuesday as she went 2 for 3 with three RBI’ s and and a run scored, shortstop Catelyn Bartlett was also 2 for 3 with a double, a pair of RBI’s and two runs scored, centerfielder Ella Smith was a perfect 2 for 2 with an RBI and two runs scored, leftfielder Madelyn Harvey was 2 for 3 with a pair of RBI’s and two runs scored, pitcher and leadoff hitter Macy Lembke also went 2 for 3 with an RBI and a run scored, third baseman Shawntee Snyder was 2 for 3 with a run scored,  catcher Layla Lembke went 1 for 3 with a triple and a run scored, and second baseman Rachel Winzenburg belted out a double in three trips to the plate with an RBI and a run scored as the Blossoms piled up 14 hits as a team for the game.

Macy Lembke was again strong in the circle for BP as she gave up the two Triton runs, both earned, on four hits, striking out seven and walking only one batter.

With the win, the Blossoms are now 10-2 on the season, and the club will be back in action Thursday at United South Central in the Gopher Conference, with first pitch at 4:30 p.m.
