No injuries reported after vehicle goes into the Cedar River in Austin Tuesday morning

No injuries were reported after a car with a pair of occupants inside went into the Cedar River in northeast Austin Tuesday morning.

Chief of Police Dave McKichan stated in a report that the vehicle went into the river at approximately 7:30 a.m. Tuesday morning just south of 4th Street NE by the bridge, and he added that the occupants made it out of the vehicle and to shore before the car sank.

Chief McKichan added that later efforts focused on locating the vehicle and removing it from the river, as due to the depth, water clarity, and being in an odd location versus the normal roadway tow, he indicated that it was taking some time.  Salvage crews were finally able to recover the vehicle from the river just after 1:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
